EV Charger Installation Options

There are a few different ways to install an EV charger—and choosing the right one depends on your home and electrical setup.

Plug-In Chargers

Most fall within $600–$900 + permit & inspection (~$225) when power is already available. Plug-in chargers use a standard 240V outlet (similar to a dryer outlet). They’re a great option if you want flexibility or may move your charger in the future.

In most cases, this setup requires a dedicated circuit to safely handle the load.

Hard-Wired Chargers

Hardwired chargers are permanently connected to your electrical system. They offer a cleaner look and can support higher power levels for faster charging.  Surprisingly, this may be the less expensive option.

This option is ideal if you plan to keep your charger in one location long-term.

Permits & Inspections - A Must Have

Typically around $225 and required for safety and code compliance. Most EV charger installations require permits and inspections to ensure everything meets local and national electrical codes.

We handle the entire process—from permitting to final inspection—so you don’t have to worry about compliance or safety issues.
